Donald R. Reavey, Esquire

Donald R. Reavey, Esquire is the Chairman of the General Litigation Department where at any given time he will oversee several complex lawsuits pending in State and Federal Courts. He has extensive experience with the resolution of contractual, regulatory and tax liability disputes affecting the health care industry.

Mr. Reavey has recently successfully resolved several multimillion dollar lawsuits involving disputes between business partners and the subsequent valuation of the corporation to determine a fair price upon dissolution of one of the members. Mr. Reavey has extensive experience in real estate tax exemptions for non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Communities, including their independent living and assisted living components.

Mr. Reavey became a Shareholder in the Firm in 2006. In addition, Mr. Reavey has extensive experience in resolving Medicare and Medicaid disputes and has been successful in obtaining significant additional Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement for his clients. Mr. Reavey also focuses on real estate tax assessments for "non-profit" and "for-profit" facilities and has been successful in reducing health care providers' real estate tax liability through real estate tax exemption and assessment appeals.

Additionally, Mr. Reavey has assisted health care facilities in obtaining licensure from the Department of Insurance to operate as Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Prior to joining the firm in 2002, Mr. Reavey defended physicians from false medical malpractice claims.

Positions & Accomplishments
Mr. Reavey is a frequent speaker on healthcare reimbursement and taxation issues, having presented seminars for PANPHA and for nursing home administrators. Mr. Reavey served a two-year term as a judicial clerk to the Honorable John W. Thompson of York County.

Donald R. Reavey earned his law degree at Penn State's Dickinson School of Law. Mr. Reavey also has B.A. in English from Brown University, and was a member of the Teaching Fellowship in Classical Studies at Ohio State University.
