Bruce G. Baron, Esquire

Bruce G. Baron, Esq. His practice focuses on long term care policy, nursing facility reimbursement, resident eligibility issues and appeals, Medicaid benefit eligibility, regulatory compliance, acquisitions, and employment and contract litigation. He worked for ten years at a federally funded educational research laboratory in Philadelphia. While there, he specialized in research and curriculum development in Social Studies education, school to-work programs, and grant administration.

Baron also worked for eleven years at the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW- now DHS), specializing in Medicaid program enforcement and nursing home reimbursement matters. Additionally, he gained experience in contract administration and litigation, including implementation of Nursing Home Reform Law requirements and of DHS's Medicaid provider claims processing and eligibility information systems (MAMIS and CIS).

From 1990 to 1997, prior to joining our firm, Baron worked as an independent research and reimbursement consultant for attorneys, accountants, and Pennsylvania nursing homes. In that role, he specialized in Medicaid related matters including the development of bridge financing for nursing facilities during a State Budget lapse.

Baron received his law degree from the Rutgers-Camden School of Law in New Jersey. He has also received a B.A. with honors from Harvard University and his M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Positions and Accomplishments
Known for his expertise in nursing home reimbursement issues, Baron has made many presentations sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He has also presented on "The Government's Role in Health Care Policy, Regulation, and Reimbursement" for the NHA and PCH certification programs. Health care accounting and provider associations also request him to present at their conferences. In addition, Baron is a speaker at our firm's semi-annual seminar on Current Issues for Nursing Facilities in Pennsylvania. Among his recent presentations are A Survival Guide for Nursing Home Audits (2010) and Elder Justice Act Reporting Requirements for Nursing Homes (2011).
