Louis J. Capozzi, Jr., Esq. has been an attorney for over twenty five years. He began his legal career with the prestigious Philadelphia law firm of Fox, Rothschild, O'Brien, and Frankel. After that, he became a sole practitioner - and later a shareholder - at the law firm of Shumaker Williams. Prior to founding this firm, Capozzi founded the law firm of Latsha and Capozzi, P.C., where he was a shareholder and the chairman of the Labor and Employment Law Group. He was also responsible for handling and supervising over 1,000 Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement appeals. Formerly employed as the Director of Healthcare Appeals at Zelenkofske Axelrod and Company, Capozzi litigated Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement appeals for that firm as well.

He has presented many seminars for Leading Age PA, PACAH, PALA, and PHCA. He was also selected by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants to provide a legal update to its members at their 1994, 1996, 1997, and 1999-2003 annual meetings. Capozzi focuses his work on health care, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement issues. He is also responsible for the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the litigation of labor arbitrations involving unions, and all other employment matters.

Capozzi has a law degree from Villanova Law School. He also has a B.A. in History and English from the State University of New York at Albany, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Positions and Accomplishments
Among his many achievements, Capozzi spoke about employee manuals and labor law issues at the 1996 and 1997 annual meetings of the New Jersey Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging, provided a labor and employment law update at the 1995 meeting of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and presented a Managed Care and Maryland Medicaid reimbursement seminar on behalf of the Maryland Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging in December 1996. He has also spoken on behalf of the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, PANPHA, and PHCA.

His other accomplishments include his many years of service as General Counsel for the Pennsylvania Assisted Living Association and Commissioner for the Pennsylvania Senior Care and Services Study Commission in 2009- 2010.

Capozzi is an Arbitrator for the American Health Lawyers Association and has issued awards to participants in those arbitration proceedings. He was selected by Leading Age PA to provide Corporate Compliance Programs to its members. In addition, he was lead counsel in a class action lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare which resulted in a $151 million settlement to non- county homes.
A member of the Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey Bar Associations, Capozzi is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the Federal Districts of New Jersey, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
